Free returns online or in-store Not completely satisfied? So what happened to training bras and why would a child need a push up bra?
I would never buy something like that for my DD. I also would not buy her a thong! I remember being a very self confident 13 yr old wearing a thong and the disgusting older boys I thought were so cool wanting to see it. The thought of my daughter wearing garbage like that makes my stomach roll.
There are tons of cute underwear boy shorts, bikini panties that are pretty and feminine without my child thinking floss up her arse equates to prettiness. I remember being there, and I cringe to think of my toddler ten years from now.
But I think that a self confident 13 year old girl will think older boys wanting to see underwear is cool regardless of them wearing a thong, boy shorts, or an amish dress. Hormones make us sexually curious, not clothes. If you don't want to have your daughter wear it, don't buy it. Nearly every bra is marketed as a 'push up' bra. If it has underwire, 9 times out of 10 they are probably going to call it a push bra regardless of how little actual pushing up it actually does.
It is a little weird that they would think an year old needs padding as more often than not there is nothing or very little to actually put in that bra. If you don't yet have anything to support and lift in that bra you are just attaching foam bumps to your chest and I would inform my daughter of how silly that is.
That said, if she was past the training bra stage and wanted an alleged push up bra I wouldn't have an issue. A bra is only sexy if my daughter is running around showing it to everyone and that is a whole new issue in itself. As a flat-chested woman who was teased her entire life, I say, bring on the push-up bras! Just make them ugly grey cotton numbers with stains and gross patterns so no one wants to show them off. You mean I really don't have to buy them for my DD if I don't want too?
Wow, I am so glad you told me!! I posted this as a Hot Topic to be discussed and debated, not because I am looking for advice. I don't care what you buy your daughter and I don't need anyone to tell me what to buy my daughter. As I already said, my daughter is 14 and she currently wears a padded bra. I also don't think this has anything to do with whether or not my daughter would be curious about sex, that has nothing to do with underwear. Oh and when I showed DH this thread he said "I'll be damned if I would let my 9 year old daughter wear the same kind of bras and thongs that I enjoy seeing my wife wear!
No one is talking about teenagers! The OP was about tween girls, that's Do you honestly think a child in 2nd grade needs a push up bra? What would a 2nd grader be wearing where their cleavage would be a concern? Do you want pedos to target your DD? Because buying a push up bra would be a great way if that was your goal. Wow, that's a whole lot of sarcasm there.
Nice, but seemingly unnecessary. As a pp also said, they do still make them in the basic style. When I did a search on walmarts website for "training bras", 31 of 36 had NO padding.
Targets selection was half and half. Again, if this thread about padded bras for preteens is not about sex or undergarments, what is it about? And why can my opinion in the debate not be to each their own? It just seems silly to get worked up over something that you can easily opt out of. Thank you so much! I kept thinking what is wrong with me that I cant seem to get the point of my hot topic post across correctly, lol.
I also agree with your entire post! I did a project in a child psych class a couple of years ago about media's influence on gender roles and the over sexualization of young girls. I also found another company making bras for year olds that said "little miss naughty" on them. I find this absolutely innapropriate. These products are teaching young girls that they have to have large breasts not only to be sexy, but socially relevant at all. Just like Barbie, Disney characters, Movies, etc.
It's not just the bras, but they certainly give these young girls another reason to think that their bodies aren't good enough on their own. I wear push-up and padded bras to give my little B cups some lift and some clevage. My DD will not be needing either when she starts to need a bra. She won't be wearing a thong until she is a teen either! As for DF, he won't go for it either! Thongs and bras like that are for trying to be more sexy Screw the it's for panty lines excuse!
Cuz I wear them to be sexy for my DF!! On a very rare occasion it was for the panty lines Girls that age don't need to be sexy. Ok, why are there padded bras and push up bras in the little girls section? When my DD first started getting boobs and I took her to Target to get a training bra I was shocked at the bras .
